Finch first started playing softball when she was five years old. She is from La Mirada in California. Doug Finch is Jennie's initial pitching coach. Jennie was able to start playing with his Finch Windmill arm conditioning device when she was the age of 10. At the time of her high school graduation, she threw six perfect games and 13 no-hitters. Then she went to at the University of Arizona where she was a three-time All-American pitcher and a first baseman. She also earned the Honda Award as the nation's best softball player in 2001, when the Wildcats won the national title and again in 2002 she was named the best player in the nation. Wounded Warrior amputee softball (WWAST) is a group consisting of amputees who have a purpose to increase awareness and collect funds via exhibition games, celebrity softball teams as well as other occasions that showcase the bravery and sacrifices of our military personnel and the way they are able to overcome any challenge. We aim to demonstrate other amputees and the general population that these athletes through extensive rehabilitation and exercise are able to communicate their wishes and play their sport that they have always loved.
